For someone who has anti-racist in your bio, you're pretty quick to defend Snape, a known racist. Whether or not he grew out of it as an adult, the fact remains that he was, at least at one point, racist against muggleborns. This is an inarguable fact.

noteventherain00 answered:

Look, I’m afraid you’ve caught me on a bad day. I’m holding in my temper as much as I can, but you’ve been following me long enough to know what sending a message like this is going to provoke.

I mean, holy shit. You’re going there? You’re making it personal, attacking me personally?

Why do I need to explain this? It’s like I’m going through the argument in my head and it’s so simple, so basic, that I can’t comprehend why I need to walk you through it. I’ll do it anyway, though.

Facts:

Sometimes people are so desperate for affirmation and friendship that they take up with the wrong sort of people, because that’s all there is on offer.

Sometimes people do bad things when they are young, then learn from their experiences and become better people once they’re older.

Sometimes people are racist at one point in their life, then they go through a process of realising they were wrong, change their minds and take steps to atone for their mistakes.

It’s 100% a fact that Snape was NOT a racist by the time he’d grown up. "Do not use that word!“ He shouts that at Phineas Nigellus when he uses the word Mudblood. He can’t even tolerate hearing it from a painting.

People can change. Snape changed. He was racist against Muggleborns and then he stopped being racist against Muggleborns.

And is that not the goal in real life social justice? Part of fighting against bigotry is working to change people’s minds, to show them that their inbuilt biases are wrong and toxic. Education is vital. It’s the only thing that that will work. Or do you think that everyone who is racist as a teenager or young adult should be permanently labelled as evil for the rest of their lives?

(Those are rhetorical questions.)

i’m sorry but what?

first of all “Sometimes people are so desperate for affirmation and friendship that they take up with the wrong sort of people, because that’s all there is on offer” our dear waste of space had a friend, her name was lily and he fucked that up on his own when he decided to call the dark arts “funny” and called her a mudblood because he is in fact a racist twat.

second of all “Sometimes people do bad things when they are young, then learn from their experiences and become better people once they’re older” in what way did snape become better when he was older, he was still a death eater and he literally did not care if he killed a baby and a the women he “cared about” husband if it meant he could have what he wanted, furthermore Mr. grease bullied and abused children for years, like lol remember that time he was a childs, who’s parents had in fact been tortured by a person he does now, worst fear? omg what wonderful adult he turned out to be.

third of all when he told dear nigellus to not use that word is because snape is nothing but a trash can full of self pity and he knew that word fucked up his chances with a girl that tbh he had no chance with BECAUSE HE CALLED THE DARK ARTS “FUN”.

my dear understand that bullying children, joining a group of people who are on par with being nazis, he didn’t work to chance peoples mind he worked for himself because the only thing he give two shits about was getting lily even if it meant killing her infant child and husband. i mean lets not forget that snape was the bastard that told voldy about it in the first place.

so yes, snape is fucking evil and i didn’t realise wanted to fuck the mother of the boy your supposed to protect excuses him from that.
